Music Lessons Being Offered That May Help Kids in School

Children who are exposed to music, or those who play an instrument, do better in school than those who don’t. But some families can’t afford lessons for their child, let alone an instrument. One Marquette music instructor is doing something to change that.

Music for all kids is a program that provides music lessons to children and young adults, who otherwise couldn’t afford them. Kids ages five to 14 can sign up for 8 half hour sessions or four hour–long sessions.

The program is in the beginning stages with seven kids taking lessons and 10 on the waiting list. But Shane Murray has already seen big changes in the kids that are just starting lessons.

Donations typically range from $20–200 dollars. Donors receive a thank you card from the child they helped. If you or your business would like to become a sponsor, or to enroll a student in lessons, contact Shane Murray at 906- 235–5163.
