Murder suspect found incompetent to stand trial

HOUGHTON — A Laurium man charged with murder is being ordered into treatment.

Christian Paul Kitti, 32, was determined to be Incompetent to Stand Trial in the 97th District Court in Houghton County.

The court received a report from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Center for Forensic Psychiatry. The court also found that there is a substantial probability that the defendant could be made competent with treatment.

Kitti was ordered into a treatment facility until he can be declared fit to answer to the charge.

Kitti is charged in the shooting death of his sister 44-year-old Kimberly Renee Bess of Calumet in July.

Because of his mental state, the court cannot make a judgment as to his criminal responsibility in the case.
