Murder suspect back in court Monday

An Ishpeming man will return to court on Monday for a scheduling conference in his murder case.

Fifty-two-year-old Jack Carpenter was scheduled to have a Circuit Court arraignment today on a charge of open murder.

He waived his right to an arraignment by mail, so he did not need to appear.

Carpenter is being held in the Marquette County Jail without bond.

He’s accused of shooting 29-year-old David Meyer, Jr. of Ishpeming in the head last June at 409 North Second Street.

Carpenter faces a possible life sentence if he’s convicted.
