Murder charge in connection with suspicious death
A 29-year-old Houghton man is charged with murder in connection with the death of an elderly woman over the weekend.
The Houghton Police Department says Timothy Cadeau is charged with one felony count of Open Murder and one felony count of first degree Home Invasion.
Police say the body of 84-year-old Geraldine Fouts was found at her home in the Douglass House Apartments Saturday morning. There was reportedly evidence of a break-in at the woman’s residence.
If convicted, Cadeau could face life in prison on the murder charge, and 20 years on the home invasion count. He is in the Houghton County Jailon a one million dollars bond. A competency exam has been ordered.
No further court dates will be set until that exam has been completed. Warrants are being sought through the Houghton County Prosecutor’s Office.
