UPDATE: Multiple people injured in head-on accident

UPDATED, FEBRUARY 11, 2016 @ 6:50 p.m. — Multiple people were injured this morning in a head–on accident in Sands Township.

A Dodge pickup driven by 25–year–old Amanda Buck was northbound on M-553 just north of County Road 480. After losing control due to icy conditions, the truck slid sideways across the lane where the passenger side was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by 68–year–old Su Hausmann of Gwinn. Hausmann had her four–year–old grandson in the vehicle. The two of them sought their own treatment for minor injuries. Buck was transported by ambulance for non–life threatening injuries. She was found at fault for the crash.

SANDS TOWNSHIP — Multiple people were injured Thursday morning in a head-on accident in Sands Township.

The accident occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. on North M-553 near Oakridge Drive. A blue Buick LeSabre and a black Dodge Ram collided head-on. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

A police officer told ABC 10 that multiple people were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The accident is still under investigation.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Sands Township Fire Department, Sands Township EMS and the Michigan State Police.  We’ll pass along more information as it becomes available.
