Multi-County Land Auction
The room was filled with wanna–be property owners and potential land barons in Marquette today — as well as with county treasurers — as a four-county public land action got underway.
About 60 people turned out to bid on the properties today.
Those included camps, vacant land, multi–family units and single-family homes.
Parcels from Marquette, Delta, Alger and Schoolcraft Counties were on the sale list.
About half of the 55 listed parcels were sold.
Properties that did not sell in today’s auction will be reviewed by the treasurer’s office in each county.
Some will be re–advertised for auction.
Others will be placed in a land bank for future rehabilitation.
Tomorrow, the Michigan Public Land Sale moves further west, with a sale of properties in Baraga, Houghton, Gogebic and Ontonagon Counties.
That auction will start at noon at the L’Anse VFW.
Registration begins at 11.
