EDINA, Minn. – For the second week in a row, Michigan Tech’s Jamie Phillips has been named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week. The junior goaltender stopped 54-of-57 shots in a non-conference series sweep of Michigan over the weekend.

Phillips had 28 saves in Friday’s 4-1 win, including stopping 14 shots in the first period. Saturday, the native of Caledonia, Ont., recorded 26 saves with 11 stops in the third period in a 6-2 win.

The Winnipeg Jets draft pick ranks sixth in the nation in goals against average (1.34) and seventh in save percentage (95.2). He is one of four goalies in college hockey with an unblemished record.

The No. 9-ranked Huskies are off to their best start since the 1972-73 season with a 6-0-0 record. Tech is the only team in the country who has won all its games with more than one win.
