MTU’s Kero wins a big time award
HOUGHTON – College Hockey, Inc., has named Michigan Tech’s Tanner Kero as the state of Michigan’s MVP for the 2014-15 college hockey season. This weekend is USA Hockey’s Hockey Weekend Across America and College Hockey Inc. picked an MVP for each state that a college hockey player calls home.
Kero, a native of Hancock, Mich., leads the WCHA in scoring with 40 points on 17 goals and 23 assists. He ranks fourth in the country in points and is a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award and a Hobey Baker nominee. The senior co-captain recently recorded his 100th career point for the No. 4-ranked Huskies who have clinched home ice for the first round of the WCHA Playoffs.
Michigan Tech has the most wins in the country with a 24-7-1 overall record. The Huskies have this weekend off before playing at Minnesota State on Feb. 27-28 in a battle for the league’s top spot.
