MTU’s Armga named to BCAM team

HOUGHTON, Mich – Michigan Tech men’s basketball player Austin Armga was named to the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan  College Academic-Athletic Team. Armga was named an All-American and Academic All-American in 2013-14 while leading the Huskies to a 24-8 record and an appearance in the NCAA Midwest Regional title game.

The guard from Waupun, Wis., scored 736 points during his senior season, which was seven shy of a school record and second most in the nation. He finished his career as Tech’s all-time leader in free throw percentage (86.8) and ninth on the scoring list with 1,577 points. Armga holds a 3.78 GPA in exercise science.

Armga was also named a Division II Bulletin All-American, Capital One Academic All-American and selected to the NABC Midwest Region First Team, Daktronics Midwest Region Second Team, GLIAC First Team, NCAA Midwest Regional All-Tournament Team and GLIAC All-Tournament Team.

Each BCAM Honor Team pays tribute to five scholar-athletes from Michigan colleges and universities at the NCAA I, NCAA II, NCAA III, and NAIA levels. To be eligible, players have to be either a starter or an important reserve and have at least a 3.2 grade point average. The BCAM teams are selected on the basis of academic achievement, athletic accomplishments, grade point average and their coach’s BCAM membership.
