MTU’s Aird named to All-Tournament Team

Houghton — Jacqueline Aird, of the Michigan Tech volleyball team, was named to the Keweenaw Classic All-Tournament Team on Monday (Sept. 8).

Aird, a junior from Orland Park, Ill., started all five matches the Huskies played over the weekend at the libero/defensive specialist position. She racked up 80 digs on the weekend to average 4.21 per set. She currently ranks third in the GLIAC in total digs and seventh in digs per set.

The tournament’s eight head coaches voted on the all-tournament team. The four team with winning records had two selections while the other four teams received one selection.

Michigan Tech hosted 16 matches over the three days. Minnesota Duluth and Winona State both left winning all four of their matches. Bemidji State (2-2), Lake Superior State (0-4), Northern Michigan (0-4), Upper Iowa (3-1) and UW-Parkside (3-2) also participated.

The Huskies are 1-4 on the season and begin GLIAC play at Lake Superior State (Sept. 12) and Northwood (Sept. 13) this weekend.
