MTU Stimulus Money for Electric Cars

A good-sized piece of federal stimulus money is making its way to Michigan Tech.

It’s just shy of $3 million.

And it’ll be used to train people to design and build new types of hybrid electric cars.

Michigan Tech will work with Argonne National Laboratory and a half-dozen industrial partners, including GM.

The 8 of them are developing undergrad and graduate programs, including a certificate program in hybrid electric vehicles.

The University of Michigan and Wayne State are also getting stimulus money for the same purpose.
