MTU Men's Hoops Touring Italy
The Michigan Tech men’s basketball team is beginning its 2012-13 season early with a tour of Italy.
The trip will span nine days — August 15th through the 23rd — and will feature three games against Italian club teams.
The team has 10 days of practice to prepare for the trip and adjust to international rules, which share the NBA’s 24-second shot clock and eight-second backcourt violation.
Newly-incoming players are not allowed on the trip, which will also feature time for sightseeing.
Michigan Tech’s athletics department says the trip is being funded entirely through donations and fundraisers.
