MTU Bball begins NCAA tourney

Tomorrow, the Michigan Tech basketball team begins their trip in the NCAA tournament with a familiar foe. Almost a year to the day, the Huskies upset Indianapolis in the tourney and in that matchup, the Greyhounds were ranked higher. This time around, the Huskies hope lightening will strike twice.

“We’ve been fortunate enough to do things right and have the kids that are in the program do things right and execute and earn these spots because certainly nobody ever gives you anything at this level so it means a lot to the program because it means we’re bringing in the right type of kids and we’re bringing in personnel that can keep us at that level more importantly,” Luke said.

One of the guys that went off that night was Ben Stelzer who was honored, yet again, for his great season. Stelzer has been named the Midwest Region Player of the Year, the first ever in Michigan Tech history. Last week, he was named GLIAC Player of the Year.

Stelzer is among the leaders in the country in scoring and three-point percentage.
