MSHS Wins Academic Award

Even though the Olympics are in London, one Marquette County high school has brought home a bronze medal on the national stage for academics and one teacher was even recognized as teacher of the year.

Marquette Senior High School received national recognition at a conference in Los Angeles last month for their freshman transitions program.

The program uses a activities outside the class room like the reality store as a way to get the students to think about their futures and really show them why their education is important.

Becky Simmons, a MSHS freshmen teacher was also awarded the national teacher of the year award at the conference.

The next step for the high school is to start incorporating the transitions program in with the sophomore, junior ,and senior classes
