Mqt. water main break

Some Marquette residents may have discolored water coming out of their taps because of a water main break.

The Marquette Department of Public Works says the break happened on Wednesday during the East Washington Street reconstruction project.

DPW officials say the break has been repaired by now, but some discoloration and some air may still be in the water system.

They recommend letting the taps run for a while to flush them out.

Water flow may also be reduced because of grit buildup in the aerator at the end of a faucet.

If that happens, the DPW suggests removing the aerator and tapping it to remove the grit.

Anyone still experiencing discoloration or low water flow after doing these things is being asked to call (906) 228-0444.
