Mqt. Police Chief Preparing for Double Duty

NEXT WEEK…

MARQUETTE’S CITY MANAGEMENT WILL SEE A CHANGE…

AS THE CITY’S CURRENT POLICE CHIEF WILL STEP IN TO SERVE AS ACTING CITY MANAGER.

Next week, Marquette’s city management will see a change.

The city’s police chief is preparing to step in and serve as acting city manager.

On Friday, Judy Akkala will retire from her post as Marquette city manager, and Chief Mike Angeli will take over on a temporary basis at that point.

Since Akkala announced her intent to retire, Angeli has spent a lot of time getting to know what’s expected from him.

Angeli also believes that his long tenure with the Marquette City Police has cultivated working relationships within the city that will make the transition easier for him.

Angeli has served as police chief since 2008 when former Chief Phil Siegert retired, but he’s been on the force in Marquette since 1976.

The city’s looking to make an offer to a permanent city manager within the next 3 months.
