"Movies for the Troops 2012" collection is underway

Family Video has teamed up with customers for “Movies for the Troops 2012”, to ship 1,000,000 movies before the end of November to entertain the members of our armed forces stationed around the world.

With help from customers, the video stores donated more than half a million movies during the campaign in 2011.

Family Video President Keith Hoogland noted, “The ‘Movies for the Troops’ campaign is quickly becoming a Holiday Tradition in our company and among our customers. It is a way for us all to provide a small token of gratitude to our servicemen and servicewomen for their tireless efforts to defend our freedoms. Our goal is to allow the troops the chance to unwind with some great movies, and to give them a small bit of relaxation to show our appreciation while they serve our country.”

Already, a large supply of DVD movies has been in heavy rotation at numerous U.S. military bases throughout Iraq and Afghanistan, according to Hoogland.

Ed Sebbas of the Family Video store in Houghton, Michigan commented, “My brother served in Afghanistan and told me that the best part of his day was the movie before bed.”
