HANCOCK TOWNSHIP — A Hancock man was injured after colliding with a deer on his motorcycle Tuesday night.

Deputies from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office say the accident happened shortly before 9:00 p.m. on M–203 near Lakeshore Drive in Hancock Township. The 41–year–old motorcycle driver was headed south on M–203 when he hit the deer.

He was transported to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital by Mercy Ambulance for treatment. The extent of his injuries is unknown. Police say speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the accident.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, Calumet Police, and Laurium Police.
