Motorcycle crash results in serious injury
WAUCEDAH TOWNSHIP — A Powers man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash Saturday evening.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post say they responded to the crash shortly after 7:30 p.m. on County Road G–69 near Bourgois Farm Road in Waucedah Township. Their investigation determined that 43–year–old Mark Kleikamp failed to negotiate a curve on his bike, crossing over the oncoming lane and leaving the roadway. Kleikamp struck a culvert and was ejected from the motorcycle.
Police say he was transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious but non–life–threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, and police say alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by Nordic Ambulance and Beacon Ambulance.
