A helmet made a major difference in the outcome of a motorcycle accident in Keweenaw County.
It happened Monday afternoon on M–26 between Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor.

The Keweenaw County Sheriff’s office says 60 year old Robert Ball of Ontario, Canada lost control of his motorcycle when he tried to avoid sand on the road.

The bike crossed the center-line, went down on the roadway and slid onto the opposite shoulder.
Ball was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital.
Police say the man’s helmet was damaged, and he might have been much more seriously injured if he had not been wearing it.
