More Meth Lab Arraignments

Formal charges have been filed against two additional suspects in the drug sweep that netted 15 people over the weekend.

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team and the DEA led the investigation.

Eugene Lefler III and Landon McGahey were charged late Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Marquette with knowingly and intentionally purchasing more than nine grams of psuedoephedrine within 30 days.

It’s a federal misdemeanor, and Lefler and McGahey face a penalty of up to a year in prison if they’re convicted of it.

Eleven other people were charged with the same crime Monday.

Two of the 15 people arrested in the multi–agency meth lab busts have yet to be charged.

Police found three operational meth labs, as well as components for two additional labs.

About 40 local, state and federal officers participated in the coordinated effort of this investigation.
