More arrests made in buprenorphine investigation

ESCANABA — Investigations by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team into the sale and distribution of illegal prescription narcotics have landed seven more Escanaba residents in jail.

UPSET detectives say the seven were arrested at separate locations within the City of Escanaba over the past three weeks for delivery of Suboxone or Subutex, also known as buprenorphine. This comes after a large bust on March 25th, when detectives took fourteen other Escanaba residents into custody.

Since that initial bust, detectives say they have arrested a total of 24 people on 39 counts in Delta County.
