MooseWood Nature Center summer camp

School may be out for the summer, but learning is still happening.

A new educational summer camp in Marquette lets children from ages three to ten take part in hands-on outdoor activities.

The MooseWood Nature Center is holding a weeklong program called “Natural Fun with Stories and Crafts”.

The camp offers many activities that include crafts and take-home materials, but it also includes music and games that center around ecology and the natural beauty of Presque Isle.

“I want the kids to learn to be outside and be aware of what’s around them besides their natural imaginative play, such as what our trees do, what you can recycle and what you can enjoy around you when you’re outside,” MooseWood Nature Center event coordinator Marcia Parkkonen said.

There’s still room for more participants.

If you want to know how to register your child, Parkkonen says you can call the Moosewood Nature Center at (906) 228-6250 for information.
