ESCANABA — The turn out was allegedly expected to bring around 200 people to Escanaba’s “Back Our Blue” event. That was a vast under–estimation.

Parking was difficult to come by as people crowded the Escanaba Dock across from Ludington Street. Back Our Blue’s purpose is self–explanatory — it’s about showing support for the officers that serve the city.

“This was really planed last minute,” explained an excited Delta County Sheriff, Ed Oswald, “We’re going to be talking, having a short presentation, and we’re going to have a band playing. But the pouring (out) of community support has been amazing here.”

No official word yet in terms of attendance numbers, but it’s easy to describe: the place was absolutely packed.

Just like Neighbors Night Out — Back Our Blue helped bring solidarity between the public and law enforcement in today’s trying times. Over 600 Back Our Blue t–shirts were sold for the event.
