A Baraga County census worker is found safely after going missing.

27-year-old James Tierney was reported missing at about 10 last night.

A search team of State Police from the L’Anse Post, Baraga County Sheriff’s deputies and the DNRE found Tierney’s pickup truck shortly after midnight.

It was stuck on Menge Creek Road, about 2 and a half miles north of Baraga Plains Road.

Tierney had left his truck and was traveling on snowshoes.

He got lost and started a fire to keep warm.

A DNRE conservation officer followed the snowshoe tracks until he found Tierney at about 2:30 this morning.

Tierney wasn’t hurt.
