Mind Over Matter workshop planned

Whether it is everyday activities like housecleaning or errands to competitive sports, you can use your mind to achieve peak performance mentally and physically, according to Breanna Carlson, a world-class female weightlifter at the NMU U.S. Olympic Education Center (USOEC) who will participate in a workshop Saturday in Marquette.

Sponsored by the nonprofit Cedar Tree Institute (CTI) in Marquette, “The Iron Butterfly” mind-body workshop will be from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday (June 15) at the Presque Isle Park Pavilion in Marquette.

Workshop facilitators are Breanna Carlson, a Northern Michigan University USOEC weightlifter and CTI Director Jon Magnuson.

The Iron Butterfly is a “workshop based in mind/body evidence-based medicine that will address how to mobilize physical and emotional resources to accomplish goals and achieve targets in various walks of life (athletics, business, health),” Rev. Magnuson said.

“This workshop will demonstrate and invite participants to use and practice strategies to regulate and utilize the stress response to achieve peak performance objectives,” he said.

The cost of the workshop is $65 and includes resource materials.
