Millions in road funding approved for Michigan

One of the harshest winters on record has done a number on Michigan roads. To pay for the much needed repairs, more than $60 million has been granted to cities and counties across the state.

Governor Rick Snyder signed legislature allocating $100 million for special road maintenance into law last month, and today the breakdown was revealed. The Michigan Department of Transportation and state counties received about $39 million each while cities and towns received roughly $22 million.  The money will be used for plowing, salting and filling potholes.

Jim Iwanicki of the Marquette County Road Commission says Marquette County will receive $362,872.37 to repair its roads.
