Michigan’s unemployment rate continues to fall for the eighth consecutive month.
April’s numbers decreased by one-tenth of a percentage point to 7.4%. According to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget, employment rose by 14,000 workers in April and the state’s labor force expanded by 11,000 workers.
Michigan’s jobless rate in April has declined over one percent in the past year. In April 2013, the unemployment rate was 8.8%.
Although Michigan’s unemployment rate has steadily declined, it is still above the national rate of 6.3%.
