Michigan Fishing Regulation Proposals Public Hearing

Outdoorsman who are concerned about fishing regulations across the U.P had a chance tonight to voice their concerns.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources Western Lake Superior Management Unit in Fisheries Division held one of three public meetings this week. They discussed several regulation proposals that could go into effect April of 2013.

Social and biological implications are considered before a decision will be made about these proposals. The DNR is hoping to give the public a voice on the decision that will effect fisheries across the state in the future.

If you can not attend any of the public meetings, the DNR has an on–line survey set up at www.michigan.gov/fishing.

Fishing season started April 1st and there has been no increase in fishing licenses for this year.
