Michigan Cottage Food Law
About a year and a half ago, the state of Michigan made it easier for small–scale farmers and growers to get their products onto store shelves.
The Cottage Food Law allows for some non–hazardous food products made in a home kitchen to be sold directly to the public.
Sarah Monte from the Marquette Food Co-Op says those products include anything that doesn’t have to be temperature controlled for safe keeping.
The Marquette Downtown Development Authority hosted a free workshop tonight at the Marquette Commons area about the Cottage Food Law.
But Monte says you can also contact the Marquette Food Co-Op to learn more about the law.
