MI Ballot Proposals: Proposal 4

As we continue looking into the six statewide proposals that will be on the ballot next Tuesday, we focus tonight on Proposal 4.

It would allow in–home care workers to bargain collectively with the Michigan Quality Home Care Council.

The agency would also be required to set minimum compensation standards, as well as terms and conditions of employment.

Craig Ruff of Public Sector Consultants says that proponents of Proposal 4 argue that benefits will expand over time for the 40,000 or so workers delivering services to Medicaid recipients.

Governor Rick Snyder opposes Proposal 4, saying in his opinion it’s more about a special interest group.

Proposal 4 is one of the five ballot proposals seeking to amend the Michigan Constitution.

We’ll have a look at Proposal 5 tomorrow night on ABC 10.
