Meth Lab Explosion in Gwinn

An explosion in a Gwinn residence was determined to be the site of a meth lab.

A 43-year-old Marquette man was badly burned in an explosion at this house on Elm Street in Gwinn.

The man was burned on 60% of his body.

Forsyth Township Police Chief Tim Rector says the man drove himself to the emergency room at Marquette General and is now at the University of Michigan Burn Center in Ann Arbor.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Marquette Police, the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team and State Police from the Negaunee Post assisted at the scene.
