UPDATE: Names released in Ishpeming meth bust

ISHPEMING — Two Ishpeming residents are in the Marquette County Jail under the suspicion of running a meth lab.

Thomas Swick, 37, and Tiffany Rushton, 26, were arraigned Thursday in the 96th District Court.  Swick is charged with two counts of controlled substance–operating/maintaining a meth lab. Rushton is charged with one count of the same charge.

The charges stem from a meth bust at an apartment on 213 E. Euclid Street Wednesday night.

U.P.S.E.T. officials found several meth components in the apartment, including two one-pot labs, but no active meth labs were found.

The pair live in the apartment with Rushton’s four-year-old child. Child Protective Services are involved with the case, and the child has been placed with relatives.

Bond was set at $25,000 on each count for the suspects.

ISHPEMING – Drug agents raided another meth lab tonight in the city of Ishpeming. The raid happened just after 7 p.m. in the upstairs apartment at 213 E. Euclid Street.  Police are looking to question a couple that was thought to live in the apartment, just a few blocks from other recent meth busts.

“The investigation will continue,” Ishpeming Police Chief Dan Willey said. “There was nobody home at the time we hit the house.”

Police are looking for the residents. After being given enough information about the possibility of meth being cooked at this location, Willey was able to get a search warrant for the raid.

Pop bottles with residue were found in the home. “Some of those I guess are gas generators and they did find a ‘one pot’ in the house,” said Willey. “They (UPSET) are still taking things out. Around the back of the house I saw some things that looked suspicious.”

The Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (U.P.S.E.T.) and police were assisted on the scene by the Ishpeming Fire Department and the Marquette County Rescue 131.
