Menominee County Mining Venture
The Marquette County Board is discussing possible economic expansion for the southern U.P.
At tonight’s county board meeting, the commissioners will decide whether or not they approve of the Back Forty venture.
It’s a mining opportunity for Menominee County.
CUPPAD — the Central Upper Peninsula Planning & Development Regional Commission — is asking all U.P. counties for their approval if the Back Forty venture meets federal and state requirements.
If there aren’t any changes in the Back Forty venture, the board will decide to write a letter of support to CUPPAD and wait to see if other counties do the same.
