Marquette 4th of July Parade

Sweltering heat didn’t keep people from coming out in droves to the Annual 4th of July Parade in Marquette Wednesday afternoon.

People packed the sidewalks to watch as dozens of parade entries passed by. Despite the heat, there were plenty of people on foot and some even skipped or danced. Candy, wrist bands, and especially bottled water were item we received by the crowd.

The Marquette parade is the kick-off event to the city’s Fourth of July celebration.

Dubbed “The Greatest Fourth in the North” the Marquette Independence Day festivities will conclude tonight with the fireworks. The display will begin at dusk with fireworks being shot off just off the old ore dock.
