Marquette School Superintendent Resigns

The superintendent of the Marquette Area Public Schools has quit the job.

Superintendent Jon Hartwig resigned this morning.

School board president Kellie Holmstrom says Hartwig’s resignation is effective immediately.

And that’s the only detail about his departure that Holmstrom was willing to disclose.

We visited the school district’s offices today to ask Hartwig ourselves.

He wasn’t there; staff told us he took a sick day today.

Hartwig had been Marquette’s superintendent since the summer of 2004.

The resignation will be made official at tonight’s school board meeting, which is going on right now at Graveraet School.
