Marquette man sent to prison on sexual assault-related charge

MARQUETTE — A Marquette man will be behind bars for at least the remainder of this year and most of next year on a sexual assault-related charge.

Charles Rogers, 26, has been sentenced to a year and 11 months to ten years in prison. He pleaded guilty in December to assault with intent to commit sexual penetration.

Two charges that Rogers accrued after the CSC charge will be dropped, and he’ll be credited with the two weeks of jail time he served on those charges. Rogers will also have to provide a DNA sample before he’s transferred to prison, as no DNA sample was taken at the time of the crime.

He was arrested in September for criminal sexual conduct on an incapacitated victim, to which he originally pleaded not guilty. Rogers changed his plea in December.
