Marquette Housing Rehab Funds
If you live in a certain section of Marquette, you may be able to fix up your home with the help of a state grant.
The money is coming from the Michigan State Housing and Development Authority.
MSHDA recently gave Marquette County about $180,000.
The money will pay for renovations to five homes near Seventh Street in the city of Marquette.
County planner and housing program coordinator Dotty Lewis says the grant money has to be spent within the next 2 years and the county is ready to spend it.
A contractor will fix up the homes of everyone accepted into the program.
The homes will be safer and more energy efficient.
Lewis says the county has sent information about the grant to homeowners in the section of Seventh Street south of Washington.
Only 2 homeowners have applied for the housing funds so far.
