This year’s harsh winter has been wreaking havoc on roads, school days, and water pipes throughout the region. Now it’s forcing the City of Marquette to extend its Winter Parking Ban until the end of April.

The Marquette Police Department announced the decision today, citing the recent and possible continued snow accumulation that’s been sweeping through area. Vehicles will not be permitted to park on City streets or in City parking lots between the hours of 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. 7 days a week until April 30th.

Police say they’ve extended the ban from April 1st to provide proper snow removal from City streets as winter weather makes its way into spring. City Staff will continue to monitor weather and roadway conditions and evaluate the extended ban period.
