Marquette Draft Charter Reviewed

The Marquette City Charter Commission is in the process of reviewing the draft charter for the City of Marquette.

In November of last year, the voters decided on a 9 member panel that would revise the City of Marquette’s charter.

Since then the group has commissioned a legal review of the charter and submitted the new draft to the State of Michigan.

The Marquette City Clerk, an attorney for the city, and members from the state Attorney General’s office held a phone conference last Friday to go over the draft charter.

At tonight’s City Charter meeting, the group reviewed the changes suggested by the Attorney General. No significant changes were requested, more so just a few adjustments. The board members went over those suggested revisions tonight.
