Marquette DDA discusses parking

Parking was a major agenda item for the Marquette Downtown Development Authority this morning.

Parking management, along with Third Street parking, were a main focus.

While the DDA feels that there’s plenty of parking available, the issue is how to manage the parking better.

The possibility of a downtown historic district was also a discussed during the meeting.

“It was the feeling of the board that we would like to bring in an expert and have some educational sessions to make sure that the property owners are well informed about what it would include to have an historic district in our downtown,” Christine Pesola said.

During upcoming sessions, the DDA will also be looking into ways to slow down traffic on Front Street due to continuing difficulties with residents trying to cross the street on foot.
