ISHPEMING — If you happen to be flying Delta this December, make sure to check the seat-pocket in front of you for Delta Sky Magazine.

Marquette County will be featured in that December issue, and that’s why Travel Marquette was celebrating tonight at the Jasper Ridge Brewery. Travel Marquette says it’s a huge deal for Marquette County, because it’s an opportunity to inform the rest of the world about the area.

Executive Director, Nicole Young sees it as a chance to clear up some misconceptions about the U.P, “Some of those things that people seem to think the Upper Peninsula lags behind the rest of the world, and it’s absolutely not true.”

She says when people see the feature, they’re going to be pleasantly surprised, “(They’ll be) like, ‘wow, I didn’t know that they had those types of restaurants, those types of hotels, those types of headquarters based in Marquette, Michigan. That’s a big deal.'”

Marquette County will be getting a profile section. That means it’ll be in the body of the magazine. It’s expected to be 20 pages long; which would mean ten pages of advertising and ten pages of editorial.

Delta Sky Magazine boasts about five million readers, thanks to each issue being carried on every Delta flight.
