Marquette Co. Fair starts Thursday
The 23rd Annual Marquette County Fair kicks off Thursday afternoon. The four day event at the county fairgrounds has something for everyone.
Carnival rides, mud drags, exotic animals and go–kart races are some of the entertainment that will be offered. And of course, there will be plenty of games and food for people of all ages to enjoy.
“We try to make it as entertaining–it’s one week of entertainment that we try to bring in as many people from all areas to see,” President of the Marquette County Fair James Goriesky said. “Our fair’s a little different that everybody else’s. Every fair is a little different from each other, but we’ve got beautiful grounds, beautiful barns, we have a great group of people that pull this off together, and it’s fun for everybody.”
Another important aspect of the fair is showcasing the 4-H livestock and agriculture. The fair also tries to be as family friendly as possible.
“The entire purpose of the fair is to promote agriculture, and it’s all for the kids,” Goriesky said. “It’s for the kids as they grow.”
“It’s a lot of planning. The other night when I was out here, it reminded me why we do it, because the group of kids were all having fun, hanging out, setting up, having a blast because they’re doing it. My daughter has been talking for two months how she can’t wait for fair time, because it’s such a fun time that they all get to hang out. So that’s why we do it.”
The Marquette County Fair begins at noon Thursday and runs through Sunday.
Tickets are $5 for adults and children over the age of 12. Tickets costs $1 for kids ages 5–11, and children under the age of five are free.
