Marquette Arts & Culture Center looking for award-winning arts supporters

If you know someone who’s contributed to the Marquette arts and culture scene, why not recognize them with an award?

The City of Marquette’s Arts and Culture Center is currently accepting anonymous nominations for it’s 18th annual Arts Awards. Anyone who has made a difference in the Marquette art community can be nominated and that doesn’t just mean artists.

“Art is important, but the people that love art, that buy art, that participate in art, are just as important,” Marquette Arts & Culture Center director Tiina Harris said. “It might be a board member that really has given a lot of time and energy to make an organization successful.”

Advocates, event organizers and volunteers are eligible and each specific award has its own criteria. Nomination applications can be submitted through April 1st. An awards celebration will be held on May 23rd. The awards are even more special this year as Marquette begins its 10-year arts and culture master plan.
