Marquette Alternative HS students create photo calendar

MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — High school students are offering a gift idea for Christmas and the other end-of-year holidays that allows anyone receiving it to look at the Marquette area in a new way.

Students in a photography class at Marquette Alternative High School have created a 2015 calendar.

A photo of something in the Marquette area accompanies each month. A student from the class shot each image, and they take the photos in every season of the year.

“It’s not always the easiest thing, but we work it,” MAHS student Haley Lalande said. “I guess it just kind of depends on what you’re into. I like taking pictures of the water and the trees and stuff like that. We use (the calendar) as a fundraiser so our photography class, at the end of the year, can go on a trip. Last year we went to Mackinac Island.”

The calendars cost $20 each and they’re available at Marquette Alternative High School in Marquette Township.
