Marijuana and domestic violence suspect identified

A Delta County man arrested for growing marijuana after he’d been stabbed has been identified.

The Delta County Prosecutor’s office says he is 64-year-old Clyde J. Hardwick of Masonville Township. His District Court preliminary exam is scheduled for next Thursday, September 5th.

Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post say Hardwick’s 20-year-old stepdaughter stabbed him shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday. Troopers believe the young woman may have been acting in self-defense during a domestic violence situation. She is not facing any criminal charges.

Police say they found an illegal marijuana growing operation while they were searching Hardwick’s property. Troopers seized an undisclosed amount of marijuana from the scene.

Hardwick was treated at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. He’s now in the Delta County Jail on domestic violence and marijuana manufacturing charges.
