MAPS Board Meeting 6.6.11

THE MARQUETTE AREA PUBLIC SCHOOL BOARD IS MAKING SOME CHANGES AND IT MEANS GOOD NEWS FOR SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS.

AT A SPECIAL MEETING TONIGHT THE BOARD APPROVED A MOTION TO ENTER INTO A THREE YEAR CONTRACT WITH PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION SERVICES GROUP.

THIS WILL SAVE MARQUETTE AREA PUBLIC SCHOOLS FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ANNUALLY.

AND SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS WILL MAKE ABOUT 7 DOLLARS MORE AN HOUR.

THE BOARD ALSO DISCUSSED THE BUDGET FOR NEXT FALL.

THE BOARD HOPES IT WILL BE ABLE TO GREATLY REDUCE THE CURRENT TWO POINT – ONE MILLION DOLLAR DEFICIT ONCE IT KNOWS WHAT THE STATE INCENTIVES ARE.

THIS SPRING 13 EMPLOYEES RETIRED FROM MARQUETTE AREA PUBLIC SCHOOLS. THE DISTRICT MUST FINALIZE ITS 2011–2012 BUDGET BY JUNE 30TH.
