Manistique man flips car in Schoolcraft County accident

One man was cited after a Schoolcraft County rollover accident late Saturday morning.

Officers from the St. Ignace Post of the Michigan State Police say the incident happened shortly after 11:00 a.m. A 23-year-old Manistique man was driving northbound on Manistique River Road near Faketty Road in Manistique Township when he drifted off the road and hit a hard-packed snowbank, causing his 2013 Subaru Outback to roll over.

Police say that the side impact airbags on the vehicle deployed during the crash. There were multiple passengers in the vehicle who were not injured. The driver suffered a cut on his hand, likely from the shattered windshield of the vehicle.

The driver was cited for driving with a suspended license. Police are awaiting the results of a blood test from the driver to determine if any further charges will be sought.

The Michigan State Police were assisted at the scene by the Department of Natural Resources.
