A Manistique man faces life in prison after allegedly slitting a woman’s throat.

Thomas Becks, Jr., 58, was arraigned in Schoolcraft County District Court today on one count of attempted murder, one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon. Manistique Public Safety officials say the charges stem from an assault incident at 651 Garden Avenue Monday night. Becks reportedly assaulted 31-year-old Theresa Gorny, causing severe lacerations to her throat.

Becks is due back in court on August 11th for a preliminary exam.
