Manistique Car-vs.-Big Rig Accident

A Manistique man is lucky to be alive today after the car he was driving struck an 18-wheeler.

23-year-old Daniel Norris was traveling northbound on Chippewa Avenue just before midnight last night.

His 2000 Saturn went under the semi–trailer and the contact with the truck sheared off almost the entire roof of the car.

Norris was taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and later to Marquette General.

The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Police say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Manistique Public Safety, the Michigan State Police Manistique Post and Sault Ste. Marie Tribal Police responded to the accident.
